I’m seeing Stars!

5.29.2009 • in the evening

Last night JR worked late and I was really bored, so bored in fact that I made an impromptu trip to Wal*Mart.

The Girl was nice enough to go with me and we walked around aimlessly for about an hour, I did however find something I have not owned in a long time. Remember back in the 80"s when the crimper rage overtook us?
I found a new and improved version of it and had to get it, my hair is bone straight, except when it’s frizzy in the lovely Texas humidity, I have always loved that sexy messy look. Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman...Andie McDowell *sigh* I covet the loose curls yo!

I didn’t find it on their site but this is it:

Other than it taking forever to do my entire head I really like it, it looked a lot better last night but I didn’t get a picture.
This morning I just kind of fluffed it up a bit, I think it held up O.K:

Don’t you love the way I disguised myself?? I blame PBS...Paranoid Blogger Syndrome.

You can kind of see the bronzer I’m wearing, it’s the Ulta one I posted about last week, I’m loving the nude/shimmery look for summer, the lipstick is Rimmel #272 Frosted, cheap but pretty...why did Misty’s face just flash before my starry eyes?? grin

Stuart: The Summer 2009 Tour

5.28.2009 • in the mid-afternoon

Things are a bit slow at Casa de Sassy lately and I thought I needed to bring back Stu to help me kick things up a notch.
I think his last appearance was in Vegas during Blogasm, I guess he needed over a year to recover.
That’s Stu-baby for you, he’s an animal, just ask Helga

Stuart is ready for summertime fun and debauchery, first things first though so he has his sun protection. I’m counting on Misty to find some Gnome condoms for the other type of protection he needs...debauchery I said!

Any suggestions of where you’d like to see Stu-baby go?

It’s Sassy’s Day!

5.21.2009 • in the late morning

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes, you guys make me happy with so much love!!!

I’m not sure what I’m doing because JR is one of those surprise kinda guys, but we’re both of tomorrow which is the best gift already smile

Forty two...wow...why do I still feel 17? (most of the time)

I’m very fortunate to have had 42 great years so far, I had a wonderful childhood thanks to having amazing parents, a family that loves and supports me, a daughter that makes me proud and is my biggest JOY! my sweet JR who...OMG...he is just the best husband and my very best friend. Now I’ve got great in-laws and step-kids and grandchildren, 2 of them!!! As if that wasn’t enough I have beautiful and loving friends including all of you sitting at your ‘puter reading and thinking “Oh no here she goes with the mush again”

I’m very thankful for everyone and everything in my life, I’ve been given more than enough and I am one very blessed girl

May is Skin Cancer Awareness month, go to the AAD website for more info and see if there are any free screenings in your area.

Living in Texas feels like you’re living next door to hell, when I was young I did all of the dumb things we all did to get that “healthy” tanned look.
I remember frying myself for hours with the best thing we found to expedite our tans, baby oil with a few drops of iodine...might as well slather some Crisco on your body.
I know I have done a lot of damage to my skin but I hope that in the last few years I’ve been more careful and hope to not have to pay the price of my stupidity and ignorance.
My skin is fair and I burn like a lobster, I have also developed an allergy to the sun. I break out something awful on my arms and tops of my hands. I keep my sunblock in my purse and have to re-apply constantly especially when I have to drive because that is when those areas are really exposed.

I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 70.

It’s the best thing I’ve found and my Doctor recommended it. I’d always read that an SPF higher than 30 does nothing for you, all of the research I’ve done says otherwise.

Look at the Skin Cancer Foundation for more info and Skin Cancer facts.

One more thing I have to stress is to get your little ones used to applying sun protection before going outside for any length of time. It’s so important to keep their skin healthy and avoid any damage to their tender delicate skin.

Oh, and be sure to wear UV blocking sunglasses, never EVER leave home without those!

Fluffy Friday

5.15.2009 • in the evening

I am soooo happy this week is over!
TGIF!!

I have a fluffy post for y’all, just a fun girly infomercial kind of thing because this week has been mentally and emotionally draining and I need a break.

So, about a month ago I ran out of my Bare Minerals foundation and decided that enough time has passed since the craze began, and so many companies are now offering mineral make-up that I should try some out.
I tried the less expensive ones found in the drugstore, I tried Physicians Formula, Neutrogena, L’oreal and Jane. These were all recommended in different beauty blogs and got good reviews.
My review on them...me no likey!
The prices are about $10-$15 less but they come no where close to Bare Minerals. I’d like to try the Mac version because I hear it’s great so maybe next time I run out I’ll give that a whirl.

Ulta is running a sale on their brand of products which I’ve never tried because I’m a bit of a make-up snob, I’ve asked for gift cards for my birthday so I didn’t want to spend too much of my money to buy everything that caught my eye, so I decided to try a few Ulta products.
The sale is buy 2 get 2 free, perfect!

Here is what I got:
Summer Glow Bronzer

Sassy Boots Photo

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
It’s beautiful and not too shimmery, just gives you a beautiful healthy glow. This will be my summer must-have.

I got their Lengthening mascara which is not on their website, I love that too but the real test will be at the end of the day when I see how it holds up, so far so good.

An eyeshadow brush which I like as well.

Finally lipstick

I got it in sugar pink and it’s so pretty, love it!

With my 20% coupon which I got in the mail and my trusty Ulta discount card I got a lot for my money and got some great products.

Since I’m the palest latina on the planet I tried this and after just one application I can see a big difference and I no longer glow in the dark.
The only drawback is the smell, although it’s not as strong as some of the other brands it’s still there. I applied it last night and waited for about 10 minutes for it to completely dry before going to bed, this morning I was happily surprised. It’s supposed to gradually work in a week’s time so I was not expecting results this quickly.

That concludes Fluffy Friday with Sassy smile
