It’s only February?

2.03.2010 • in the evening

I don’t know if I’ve said this here already but this year has been kicking my ass already.
I’m hoping since so much has happened the rest of the year will be smooth sailing...right?

Poor Smizzo is lost, she’s been out of the loop and I should update her and anyone else who might not know what happened.
Smizzo my darling we had some crap weather last month and on my way to work I hit a patch of black ice on a bridge, went for a few spins and ended up in an embankment.
I was taken by ambulance to the ER where they did tests and released me after finding no broken bones.
Thank Goodness, I was really blessed and although I hurt my neck and back it could have been lots worse.

I’ve been seeing a Chiro which has helped a lot, I occasionally have to take a muscle relaxer but have not needed pain meds in a couple of weeks.
I start Physical Therapy in a few days.

A week after my accident my 86 year old grandfather passed out fell and ended up cutting his head open, he lost a lot of blood which we found out at the ER he didn’t have to spare, his heart is in trouble and he’s in need of an operation but is too weak for that. So between my dad, my brother and myself we stayed with him at the hospital the entire time, he went home a week later but is still in delicate health. He’s at home with my grandmother who is confined to a wheelchair and has dementia.
My dad and step-mom have been taking care of them since they just live a few blocks away.
All of this has taken a toll on my dad’s health and now we are concerned about him, he can’t keep up this pace for long.
We are hoping the primary Doctor will request Home Health care, and of course hoping the damn insurance will approve it soon.

As if all that wasn’t crazy enough, the day after my grandfather fell my step-mom’s dad passed away in “The Mother Land”, so we had to deal with that and she flew out the next morning and was gone for a week. My dad wasn’t able to go with her since my grandfather was so ill.
Oh wait there’s more!

My youngest niece got really sick and ended up having surgery 2 weeks ago, while all the grandparent stuff was at full speed we were all sick with worry, she’s only 8 and in horrible stomach pain, she had to have a lot of invasive tests, and then the surgery. She’s on heavy medication and still in pain so excruciating it knocks her off her feet.

I’m so thankful for JR, he takes such good care of me. He chauffeured me around to doctors appointments and hospitals to see my grandpa and do what was needed, he made sure I took my medication and didn’t overdo it, he handled all of the insurance stuff and got my car where it needed to go and I never even had to talk to anyone, we picked up the loaner car and dropped it off together, other than that I did nothing.

Life goes on and it doesn’t stop for anyone or anything, but that’s good in a way, I was glad to get back to work and in my routine again.
I’m going to take grandpa to the Cardiologist today, we will hopefully get some answers and maybe he’s strong to take the surgery.

I think that’s all I had to update...that’s enough for sure.

Too many MIAs

While I was recovering at home I watched a LOT of T.V since I had to be in bed 90% of the time.
I came across the usual daytime court shows and talk shows, but one night I got sucked in by a train wreck of a show. “Little Miss Perfect” is like a big pile of roadkill on a highway.

There is a pageant for the title about every week it seems, so as pageants go this one is no biggie but the parents...OMG the parents!!! The mothers!!!
These people act as if their girls are competing for the Miss Universe crown. You can tell the moms are living vicariously through their daughters, they are not “typical” pageant moms as they are a little rough around the edges.

Every episode I’ve seen has made me cringe at some point, putting acrylic nails on an 8 year old?? spray tanning and hair extensions?
One mom actually said to her daughter “We are not doing Play*boy...you’re not 18 yet” Seriously? that’s the best you can imagine for your daughter at 18?(or any age)
(Watch her on the video at 1:27 and see what I mean)

As a kid I did pageants because my best friend did and we wanted to hang out even more, the most our moms did to get us ready was sponge roll our hair the night before, we didn’t wear make-up and we wore our Sunday dresses and the same bathing suit we wore to the pool all summer.
I hate to talk about little girls this way but, I can’t help but think that some of them end up looking like little strippers in their get-ups, that’s just sad to me.

I met The Girl at Ulta because I needed some eye shadow.
I’m lucky the nearest Sephora is 40 minutes away, or I’d be broke.

Want to know what I got? you do don’t ya?
Since I just highlighted my hair and I’m unsure if I will keep it this way or not, I bought small non-expensive items but I really love everything:

Sassy Boots Photo

Ulta cheek color in a shade I really like, can’t see the name of it but it’s a flattering rosy-ish color. NYX Eyeshadow-baby pink/cotton candy/spring flower, I love that it goes on like a light cream shadow but it does not crease at all, also the compact says “Triple Shadows for Sexy Babe’s Eyes Only”...how can you not love that?!
I don’t know the lipstick shade but its kind of mauve-y and I got a lip tint which I’ve never used before, but I like this one as it’s not harsh on the lips, it’s Palladio in Berry.
The eyeliners are Ulta Minerals in navy and charcoal gray.

In other news I finally get my car back today! I can’t wait, the rental car was nice to have and I am appreciative of my trusty ole insurance which covered the cost, but this car rides rough and that is something I don’t need with a hurt back, there are other issues but I will stick to doing reviews on make-up...but if y’all twist my arm I’ll give you my thoughts on a certain small SUV that rhymes with marshmallow PEEP wink

Just thinking…

I obviously have nothing substantial to say but I am sitting here watching TV, and yet another commercial about eyelashes is on, that’s the third one in the last 30 minutes.
Why the sudden obsession with lashes? everyone is wearing fake ones, getting extensions and putting lash-growing potions on them.
I really resent the fact that it’s making me pay way too much attention to mine, that’s one thing I’ve never given much thought to, I just put on mascara and call it a day..now I’m flipping out really noticing when I lose one, wishing they were longer, fuller…
I don’t need that BROKEeffinSHIELDS!
I have plenty to keep me busy like worrying about the fullness of my ass! :(
